Albite is one of six species in the plagioclase feldspar series. Each species is defined by its albite and anorthite content: albite itself has the highest albite content. It is usually white, though gems are often colorless. Peristerite, an albite-oligoclase mix, has a blue sheen, like moonstone.
The best peristerite is from Canada.
